Amarah ("we", "our", "us") is committed to protecting the privacy and security of our members. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use our matchmaking platform.
By creating an account or continuing to use Amarah, you agree to the collection and use of information described in this policy.
02Information we collect
- Account information such as your name, email address, gender, and encrypted password.
- Profile information such as age, location, education, occupation, religious practice, marital history, personal descriptions, and partner preferences that you choose to share.
- Verification information used for identity checks, background screening, and manual review.
- Usage information such as login history, subscription status, and match interactions so we can operate and improve the service.
- Communication information you send through support, contact, or account-related requests.
03How we use your information
- Create and manage your account.
- Curate compatible introductions based on your profile and preferences.
- Carry out verification, background check, and safety review steps.
- Process subscriptions, billing, and account notices.
- Send transactional emails about verification, security, matches, and account updates.
- Respond to support requests and improve the platform.
04Profile privacy
Your profile is private. Amarah does not operate as a public browse-and-search directory.
Profile information is only accessible to Amarah administrators who manage verification and matchmaking, and to the specific matches we deliberately introduce to you as part of the service.
Note: No other members, advertisers, or public visitors can browse your profile.
05Data security
- Passwords are stored using secure hashing.
- Authentication uses secure httpOnly cookies and token controls.
- Sensitive forms are protected by rate limiting, input validation, and anti-abuse tooling.
- Security headers are applied across the application.
- Administrative actions are logged for accountability and review.
06Data retention
We retain your information while your account remains active and for any period reasonably necessary to meet legal, security, fraud-prevention, or operational obligations.
If you request deletion, we will remove your personal information within a reasonable period except where retention is legally required.
07Third-party services
- Resend for transactional and account email delivery.
- Certn for verification and background check workflows when that process is enabled.
Note: We do not sell your data and we do not share member information with advertisers or data brokers.
08Your rights
- Access and review the information you have provided.
- Correct or update profile information.
- Request deletion of your account and associated personal data.
- Withdraw optional consent, such as non-essential email preferences.

09Breach notification
If a breach creates a real risk of significant harm, we will notify affected individuals and comply with Canadian legal requirements, including applicable obligations under PIPEDA.
That notice will explain what happened, what information was affected, and what we are doing in response.
10Privacy officer
Amarah has designated a Privacy Officer responsible for privacy-related inquiries and compliance handling.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

11Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If material changes are made, we may notify members by email or through the platform.
Continued use of Amarah after those updates takes effect means you accept the revised policy.
